He was predeceased by: his wife Sylvia Barrera; his son Ruben Barrera; his parents, Geronimo Barrera and Celia Garcia; and his siblings, Roberto Barrera, Noe Barrera, Eden Barrera, Sulema Chavez and Gonzala Chavez.
He is survived by: his children, Erasmo Barrera Jr., Oneida Higginbotham (Gordon) and Senaida Guerra (Isaias); and his sister Maria Delia Hinojosa. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
