He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Elvert and Grace Ramsey Pledger; his brother Mike Pledger; and his father-in-law Bud Self. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Self Pledger; his sons, Stacy Pledger (April) and Eric Pledger (Raquel); his grandchildren, Dustin, Gracie Pledger, Kayson, Kaymin and Bowen Pledger; his siblings, Cathy Windham (Leon), Jean Gibbs (Dwane), Roy Pledger (Betty) and Don Pledger (Vickie); his mother-in-law Darlene Self; and his sister-in-law Wanda Pledger.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's research hospital, an organization that was dear to Joe's heart.
