He was predeceased by: his parents, W. J. Samford and Rachel Vaught Samford (Vaught); his siblings, Troyce Glendon Samford and Ada Mac Samford (Sharon); his son Jerry Dane Samford; and his mother-in-law Adelle Rodgers Hunter.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Hunter Samford; his son Joseph Daniel Samford; his sister Kay Sanders (Ray); and his great grandchildren, Jon-Jacob Samford, Garrett Ammons, Mark Fincher and Jeannie Rhodes.
