He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Kenneth Garrett and Mabel Sue Garrett (Oglesby); his brother Billy Jack Johnson; his daughter Tammy Rene᷄ Hoopes; and his friend Clinton Kellar.
He is survived by: his wife Marie; his children, Michael Mayfield, James Atchley (Lea), Wayne Atchley (Stephanie), Shelly Sorenson, Lisa Garrett and Phillis Bunch (Shane); his brother Glen Garrett (Sue); his aunt Ernestine Pierce; and his mother-in-law Lois McDonald. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
