He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Ray and Irene Ray (Culver); and his brother Melvin Eugene Ray. He is survived by: his grandsons, Jordan Scott Downing and Kevin "Lee" Gottshall, II; his wife Sandra Ray; his brother Kenneth Ray (Karis) of Wichita, KS; his children, Toni Strawn (David) of Kingston, GA, Sheryl Gottshall (Kevin) of The, Craig Ray (Jackie) of Zurich, Switzerland and Scott Downing (Mary) of Hays, KS; his grandchildren, Allison Cauthen (Josh), Garrett Strawn (Carrie), Logan Downing (Chelsea), Dillon Strawn, Stephanie Fehl (Taylor), Layne Downing and Elizabeth Reina (Christopher); and his great grandchildren, Jozi, Lexi Downing, Hank, Jace Cauthen and Emelia Strawn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hemphill Public Library, Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
