He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Monk and Mary Josephine Monk (Jo); and his father-in-law C. A. Henson. He is survived by: his pet Gracie; his wife Jackie Henson Monk; his siblings, Teresa (Jack Hardwick) and Dr. Joe Monk; his mother-in-law LaNelle Henson; his sisters-in-law, Beverly Mardis and Dianna (Steve Elzner); and his nephews, Jonathan (Jennifer Hardwick), David (Amber Hardwick), Daniel (Erin Hardwick), Benjamin (Ali Monk), Ian Monk, Andrew Monk and Cliff (Paula Henson). He is also survived by many grand-nieces and nephews, and numerous extended family and friends.
