He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hejl and Albina Hejl (Babovec); his wives, Geraldine Kahlig and Barbara; and his siblings, Jerome, Wilton Hejl and Gladys Hejl Allison.

He is survived by: his children, Alan Hejl of New Boston and Karen Massar (Darrell) of Temple; his grandchildren, Courtney Mullings (Mac) of Temple and Walker Massar of Temple; and his great grandchildren, Cannon and Hunter.
