He was predeceased by: his parents, Theron Maurice and Wilma Jean Barnes (Quinn); and his sister Sue Kopecky. He is survived by: his wife Myra Barnes of Temple; his children, Joe Barnes of Temple, Sharon Stokes (Mike) of Temple, Dawn Oxford of Temple, Margie Birkes (Don) of Moody and Robert Goodman (Angie) of Hewitt; his sister Pam Beeson (David) of Temple; and his siblings-in-law, James Don Malicoat of Temple and Mary Barnes. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
