He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Herbert Leroy Mathias and Julia Hill Mathias; his wife Dorothy Mathias of Temple; his children, Walter Mathias (Lori) of Liberty Hill, Janice Meyer (Kurt) of Temple and Phyllis Mathias of Temple; and his siblings, Joe Mathias of Arkansas, Tom Mathias of Arkansas, John Mathias of Arkansas, Sam Mathias of Arkansas, James Mathias of Arkansas, Mary Brown of Arkansas, Martha Hobbs of Arkansas, Bernice Moulden of Arkansas and Rebecca Mathias of Arkansas. He was also cherished by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
