He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Sotero and Mary Garcia; his son Johnny Sotero Jr.; and his siblings, Sylvia Sotero, Benny and Julio Salas.

He is survived by: his daughters, Adriana Sotero of Temple and Lisa Reyes of Temple; his stepdaughter Deanena Sabedra of Temple; and his siblings, Cynthia Tobar of Temple, Charlie and Antonio Sotero of Temple. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
