He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin "Wade" Johnson and Shirley "Laurette" Orr Johnson; and his sister Sandra May. He is survived by: his wife Carol Johnson; his children, Mark Johnson and Stacy (Scott Rupert); and his grandchildren, Evan and Pierce Rupert.
After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, they returned to Temple in 2012.
