He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Louis Donald Smith and Kathleen Lianza; his wife Debbie Lynn Smith; his sisters, Deborah Kay Medford and Shari Carlene Anders; his girlfriend Vicki Brown of Killeen; his children, Donald Joseph "DJ" Smith of Brighton, Justin Louis Smith of Temple, Wendy Lea Smith of Temple, Kellie Ann Smith of Temple and Naomi Kathleen Smith of Moody; and his brother Joseph Michael Smith of Columbus. He was also cherished by nine grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
