He was predeceased by: his parents, Akard Newton and Lula Belle Newton of Pidcoke, TX.; the mother of his children Eloise Newton; his siblings, Durwood Newton, Gayle Newton, Sandra Bingham and Vickie Wells; and his stepson Brian Keith Evans.
He is survived by: his wife Margie Newton of Temple; his children, Patricia Hurt of Cedar Park, Phillip Newton of Temple and Paula Bardshar of Briggs; and his sisters, Pat Lamb of Waco and Lynda Lollar of Tuscaloosa, AL.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
