He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie and Essie Lee Scott Lavan Sr.; his wife Naomi Wells; his sons, John Lavan and Raymond Lavan; and his siblings, Ernestine Thompson, Joyce Thomas and Willie Lavan Sr..
He is survived by: his children, Willie Lee Lavan (Wanda) of Augusta, Georgia, Beverly McHenry of Waco, Wanda of Houston, Belinda Martin, Madeline Taylor and Rebecca Moore (Garry) of Temple. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
