He was predeceased by: his mother Kathryn Thomas Portis; his son Dylan Portis; and his brother Larry Portis, Jr.. He is survived by: his father Larry A. Portis, Sr. of Troy, Texas; his wife Karen Portis of Temple, Texas; his sons, Dae'Quan Portis of Waco, Da Vonte Portis of Waco and Dexter Portis of Grand Prairie, Texas; and his siblings, Manuel Portis (Shyvonda) of Temple, Texas, Demeatra Johnson (Rodney) of Temple and Lanette Porter of Troy, Texas. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Branford Dawson Funeral Home Inc. (718 S 7th St, Temple, TX 76504). A wake was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church (105 Walton St, Moody, TX 76504). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (300 Avenue E., Moody, TX 76557).
