He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe F. Shirley, Sr. and Ruth Shirley; and his siblings, Gladys Lowery, Neta Schaub, Harold Shirley, Joe Frank Shirley, Jr. and Billy Don Shirley.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Shirley; his children, Debbie Johnson (Mike), David Shirley (Brenda), Denise Gray (Jeff), Amanda Shirley and Megan Forrester (Drennon); and his brothers, Eugene Shirley (Linda) and Wayne Shirley (Jay). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and expecting one great-great-grandson.
