She was predeceased by: her parents, Cumby M. Dyess and Lucy Tucker-Dyess; her husband O. J. Ward; her siblings, Bobbie Waskow and Cumby Dyess Jr.; and her great grandchild Austin Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Ann Brown (Vinson), Barry Ward (Jeannie) and Peggy Coleman (Robert "Red" Coleman); her brother Ace Dyess; her grandchildren, Tonya Drake (Nelson), Misty Daniels (Neil), Shelisa Courtain, Candice Teinert (Ricky), Jackie Galloway (Andrew), Melondy Ward, Carla Clapper, Dr. Kristy Ward and Brandon Ward; and her family Love. She is also survived by 17 great-great grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers she asked for those who wish to donate due to her love of cats and the special care they need to: Snip and Tip 1203 Bonnie Drive, Killeen, Texas -Non-profit for rescue for cats.
