He was predeceased by: his parents, Emma Ockleberry and Anderson Johnson Sr. (Slim); his wife Doris Faye Johnson; his grandsons, Anderson Raphael Johnson and Dominique Lavell Tedder; and his siblings, Raymond Johnson (Ray), Ruby Lee Peoples, Kay Frances Mack, Sharon Ferrow and Lola Faye Johnson (Sally).

He is survived by: his former wife Eldora Thompson; his children, Anderson Johnson III (Margarita Schooley) and Tamala Johnson-Berry (Jerry); and his sisters, Emma Jean Blackmon, Reata Campbell (Joe), Margaret Ann Thomas and Lillian Smith. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
