He was predeceased by: his mother Alice Sanchez (Gomez); his son Nicholas Sanchez; his brother Ruben Sanchez; and his grandmother Rafaela Tellez Gomez. He is survived by: his children, Virginia Sanchez, Janie Torres, Daniella Sanchez, Kristie Rodriguez, Angelina Sanchez, Abel Sanchez, Jr. and John Sanchez; and his siblings, Mary Rendon, Mary Sanchez, Annie DeLeon, Yolanda Meadows, Mary Jane Ethredge, Albert Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez, Louis Sanchez and Steve Sanchez. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home (3110 Airport Rd, Temple, TX 76504). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
