She was predeceased by: her parents, Hattie Dallas Sorrells and Calvin Sorrells; and her siblings, Rosie Lee, Gracie, Edward (Didlum), Willie and Jack.

She is survived by: her children, Barbara Sutton, Arlatricia Samuel (Frank), Shirley Kelly (Larry) and Richard Smith (Gloria); her sister Sophie Ross; her grandchildren, Shawntell Walton (Christopher), Terence Smith, Toree Veal (Michael), Kisha Smith, Richard Jr. Smith, Drew Kelly, Shantiana Smith and Aeleya Smith; her great grandchildren, Torrell Heflin, Micah Walton, John Walton and Michaela Veal; and her niece Sharon Fitch. She is also survived by other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

“I just learned of Miss Laura’s passing. I am heartbroken. She was the sweetest lady. We were next door neighbors when I was a kid on the west end and she was the best neighbor anyone could have. I loved sitting on her front porch with her kids, Sharon her niece and Miss Grace her aunt. Such a beautiful person. I am praying that the Lord gives you all strength during this difficult time.
