She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Robert Lee Carter, Jr. and Hettie Marie Caffey Carter; her former husbands, Wilford Doyle Scott and Scott Roberts; her great grandchild Addison Elizabeth; her former husband Cecil Ballard; her husband Brian Ruden; her brother Robert Lee Carter, III (Laura); her nephew Jeffrey Carter (Gena); her niece Lori Carter Karl; her great-nephew B. K. Hardy; and also, Robert Lee Carter, Sr., Janie Owens Carter, Charlie B. Caffey and Francis Caffey. She was also cherished by her children and grandchildren.
She donated over 180 sets to Seton Hospital's Premature Baby Unit.
