He was predeceased by: his parents, George Kuempel and Eleanor Kuempel; his sisters, Karen Barrington and Eleanor Buchhorn; his nephew Mark Kuempel; and his brothers, Gary (Judy) of Austin, Jack (Janelle) of Taylor and David Kuempel of Taylor.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Kuempel; his children, Donald Kuempel, Jr. (Michelle) of Pflugerville and Diane Heselmeyer (Jeff) of Taylor; his grandchildren, Phillip Kuempel (Haley) of Bartlett, Kayla Kleypas (Zack) of Pflugerville and Ashley Thomas (Colin) of Colorado; and his great grandchildren, Madelyn, Jaxson, Tucker, Easton, Camden, Harrison and Luke. He is also survived by his nephews, nieces and numerous friends.
