She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Mitchel "C. M." and Alice Pauline Singleton Courtney; her husband William Kevin "Bill" McIlwain; her brothers, Billy and Mike Courtney; and her in-laws, H. G. and Jeannie McIlwain.
She is survived by: her children, Kristen McIlwain Ladner (Stephen), Erika McIlwain Smith (Gregory), Mitchel Kevin McIlwain and William Devin McIlwain (Elinor); her grandchildren, Emersyn, Lincoln, Slater and William; her siblings, Joe T. Winn (Loretta), Jimmy D. Courtney (Anita) and Sharon K. Abel (Kelly); and her sisters-in-law, Sally Courtney and Tina Hampton Courtney. She is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
