He was predeceased by: his parents, Sara Salazar (Chavez) and Estanislado Salazar; and his siblings, Angelica S. Gonzalez, Estanislado Salazar, Jr., Fidel Salazar and Rodolfo Salazar.
He is survived by: the mother of his children Olga Salazar; his children, Robert Salazar, Jr. of Greeley, Ricardo Salazar of Sinton, Michael Anthony Salazar (Melissa) of Taft, Texas and Deborah Salazar of Austin, Texas; and his brothers, Enrique Salazar (Dolores) of Austin, Juan Salazar and Raul Salazar (Elizabeth) of San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
