He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee and Elma E. Sowell (Priddy); his son Wendell Wayne Sowell; and his siblings, Betty Brausell and Curtis Lee Sowell.
He is survived by: his wife Edna Sowell of Sweetwater, Texas; his son Richard Sowell (Reda) of Midland, Texas; his grandchildren, Kelly Wells (Jacob) of Midland, Amy Yonts (Chris) of Midland, Rita Marie Hicks (Jake) of Humble, TX, Elicia Paddock (Brad) of Oklahoma City, Dana Dennis of Buda, Carl Dennis (Kirby) of Humble, TX, Kaitlyn Morava (Matt), Zachary Wells, Casen Yonts, Kenzie Yonts, Howard Hicks, Katie Lynn Hicks, Elliot Ray, Declan Ray and Vincent Dennis; his sister Terrye Powell of Brownwood; and his sister-in-law Gina Hallford of Early. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
