He is survived by: his former wife Dorothy Saddler; his wife Dorothy Townsend of Sweetwater, Texas; his sons, Frederick Townsend (Francess) of San Diego and Joseph Townsend, Jr. of Sweetwater, Texas; and his siblings, Jewel Townsend of Lubbock, Samuel Townsend of Odessa, David Townsend, Ella Davis of Midland and Linda Busby of Midland, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
