He is survived by: his wife Dolores Gauna-Speed of Sweetwater; his sons, Joseph Gauna-Speed of Sweetwater, James G and Christopher Gauna-Speed of Sweetwater; and his siblings, George Speed (Clara) of Sweetwater, Lonnie Speed (Sara) of Odessa, Jimmy Speed of Abilene, Doris Brown, Patsy Capehart (Jim) of Uvalde, Becky Smith of Sweetwater and Norma Jean Ivie (Vaughn) of Cisco.
