He was predeceased by: his parents, James Esmon Whitfield I and Johnnie Bernice Perryman Whitfield; and his son Craig Whitfield. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Whitfield; his children, Mark Whitfield, Keith Sandlin, James Vance Whitfield and Dawn Sandlin; his grandson Christofer Sandlin; and his nephews, David Kennedy and Daniel Kennedy.
In lieu of flowers, Jim wanted any donations made to "First Baptist Church – Bryan, Texas to the Eunice Class," Barbara Whitfield's Sunday School class since August 2023.
