He was predeceased by: his children, Shannon Mahaffey and Julie Sawyers. He is survived by: his wife Joy of Sweetwater; his children, Joey Newman (Nancy) of Abilene, Rick Newman of Denison, Gene Bartlett (Jan) of Sweetwater, Steve Mahaffey (Penny) of Sweetwater, Jan Bollinger of Eugene, Sheila Brock (Jack) of Midland and Sharon Morrow (Johnny) of Poteet; and his siblings, Mannon Newman of Sweetwater, Carolyn Smith of Arlington, Linda Sue Conklin of Graford and Johnnie Lee of San Angelo. He is also survived by grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
