He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Jackson and Ida Pearl Tanton (McDaniel); his wife Doris Reeder; his daughter Debra Moore; and his grandchildren, Alisha Tanton, Steven Moore and Eric Hill.
He is survived by: his children, Tony Tanton (Ann), Tim Tanton, Tommy Tanton (Debra), Terry Tanton and Donna Hill; and his brother Milus Joseph Tanton. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
