He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Melvin and Alwyn Imogene Savage (Dysart); and his brother Keith. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Fenn; and his sons, Jim Savage and Michael Savage. He is also survived by wives; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Murray - Orwosky Funeral Home (876 Wildcat Way, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482). A graveside service was held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (5784 TX-154, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 12th 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wayland Baptist University in his memory.

“I have known Cortland for a number of years, as my daughter Julie and his son Jim, are married. I think of him as a warm, kind, and fine Christian man who had a great personality and always put a smile on my face. He was always outgoing and fun.........and yes, his resemblance to President Abraham Lincoln was uncanny. I send my love and condolences to his family as I know they will miss him as a father, husband. grandfather and friend. Rest In Peace, Cortland. Delli Mathews”
