He was predeceased by: his father Emeregildo Acosta. He is survived by: his mother Maria Elena Reynoso; his wife Estela Acosta Cadena; his children, Daisy Y. Acosta (Rene), Francisco Javier Acosta (Viridiana), Joel Acosta Jr. (Brenda), Jesus Acosta (Ludwika), Estela Acosta (Jorge) and Jaime V. Acosta (Ashley); and his siblings, Jose Acosta, Cesar Acosta, Leticia Acosta and Yadira Acosta. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren.
