She was predeceased by: her parents, Emil Jay Griffing Jr. of North Carolina and Gwendolyn Halbert-Travis of Blythville, Arkansas.; her husband Leon Cecil Giles of California; and her brother Emil Jay Griffing III. She is survived by: her children, James "Devon" Herd (Martha) of Texas, Sheree Herd of Texas and Sha Woodson of Texas; and her siblings, Carey Griffing (Martha), William Damon Travis, Brenda Kay Travis and Cynthia Travis Nunn. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
