He was predeceased by: his siblings, Joe Von, Everett, Harold Wheeler, Jeannette Burnett, Vernelle McCalla and Burkie Thornton.
He is survived by: his wife Imogene Butler Wheeler; his sisters, Eva Lu Wright, Linda Duncan and Franna McCullars; his children, Kay Walker-Horn (Vernon) and Johnny Max Wheeler, Jr. (Marty); and his grandchildren, Bill Reed (Carol), Mike Reed (Michelle), Jess Wheeler (Heather), Wendy Knight (Greg) and Holly Carr (Chris). He is also survived by 12 Great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 there will be no formal visitation but Max will lie in state on Friday, December 18 from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm at Edwards Funeral Home, 215 E, Housley, Strawn, TX. Mask and social distancing will be required for the funeral home and at the graveside service.
