He was predeceased by: his wife Aneta Overby Cox; his daughter Vickie Ann Klein; his brother Norman Cox; and his parents, Pearl Cox and Troy Cox.
He is survived by: his former spouse Willie "Aneta" Cox; and his sons, Vernon Lawrence Cox of Martin County and Billy Don Cox (Stephanie Cox) of Stanton. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
