He was predeceased by: his parents, Annice Mims and J. T. Mims; his wife Kay Mims; and his brother Lawrence Lowrance. He is survived by: his sons, Rickey Mims, Ronnie Mims, Russell Mims and Robert Mims; and his sister Lorece Avery. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren.
