He was predeceased by: his spouse Leta Jo York; and his siblings, Aileen Carlton and Rufus Schmidt. He is survived by: his son Steve Schmidt of Stamford; his daughter-in-law Sylvia Schmidt of Abilene; his brother Valton Schmidt (Beatrice) of Stamford; and his sister-in-law Pat Holden of Stamford. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
