She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Benjamin Franklin McKinsey, Jr. and Garnet Irvine Muire McKinsey; her husband Lanny Ray Burkhalter; her sons, Craig McKinsey Burkhalter (Sarah), David Christopher "Chris" Burkhalter (Kristi) and Cory Edwin Burkhalter (Jackie); her grandchildren, Alexis Gomez (Antonio "A. J." Gomez), Camryn Burkhalter, Mia Burkhalter, McKinsey "Mack" Burkhalter, Emma Burkhalter, Ava Marie Burkhalter, Carson Burkhalter and Collin Burkhalter; her sister Constance "Connie" Laker of Hampton, VA; her niece Stacey Gordon; and her nephew Michael Akers.
