He was predeceased by: his mother Sara Dean Spikes (Flynt); his siblings, David Wayne Spikes and Deborah Reeves; and his sister-in-law Cordelia Spikes. He is survived by: his wife Amy Spikes; his father Henry D. Spikes; his children, Alex "Junior" Acosta (Jamie), Lindsey Sisk (Joshua), Jeremy Spikes, Jenna Spikes and Venessa Escoto (Raul); and his brothers, Allen Dale Spikes (Dale) and Johnny Spikes (Sheri). He is also survived by grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Sunday, October 27th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Azle (1017 Boyd Rd, Azle, TX 76020). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 28th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
