He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dewey and Lela Massey (Mahon); his wife Connie Massey; his son David Massey; and his siblings, Billy, Leon Massey and Marcella Beaver.

He is survived by: his stepdaughter Dee Phipps; his son Calvin Massey; his stepson Douglas Chandler; his daughter Cheryl O'Rear; and his sisters, Lucille and Mary. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family and many friends.
