It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merlin Thomas Scanlan (Spring, Texas), born in El Paso, Texas, who passed away on February 9, 2019, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin Scanlan and Jean Scanlan; his siblings, Eileen Girvin and Tim Scanlan; and his brother-in-law Roger Peña.
He is survived by: his spouse Rose Scanlan of Spring, TX; his children, Tommie Lynn Jolly (Rimmo) of Hong Kong, Jason 'Will' Scanlan of Houston, TX and Lisa Hartnup (Matt) of Spring, TX; his grandchildren, Simran, Chetan, Kiran, Aahna Jolly of Hong Kong, Geoffrey Hartnup (Chelsey) of Houston, TX and Andrew Hartnup of Spring, TX.; his sister Colleen Peña of Oceanside, CA; and his brother-in-law John Girvin of Flagstaff, AZ. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family would prefer donations to the St Jude Children's research as Tom had a special place in his heart for children suffering with cancer or American Cancer Society.
