Mark Allen Woods Obituary
Mark Allen Woods, 56, went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, November 20, 2023, in Spring, Texas. He died peacefully in his home after quickly succumbing to his illness, GIST.
He was born in Houston, Texas on December 22, 1966, to Robert and Peggy Woods. Together with his three siblings, they lived in the Hidden Valley neighborhood in the Aldine area of North Houston. As a kid, he loved to ride his dirt bike and play the guitar, especially Bon Jovi. Always a hard worker, Mark worked his way up from grocery bagger at Randalls to front end manager. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1985. From there, Mark attended San Jacinto College and studied aeronautics.
Mark began his aviation career as a flight instructor at Hooks Airport. In the early 90s he joined Continental Express as a First Officer. He then went on to become a captain for United Airlines where he remained until the onset of his illness in July 2023.
Mark loved to laugh, talk politics, share old memories, and listen to his favorite band, Third Day. He was so proud of his girls and loved taking them on trips, especially to Disney World.
He is survived by his two daughter “Abbi” and “Kait” of Spring, TX; his brother, John Woods of Denton, TX; his sister, Trish “Patty” Coleman and husband Allen Coleman of Knoxville, TN; his niece, Ashley Corso and fiancé Brandon Savisky of Houston, TX; his nephew, Michael Corso and wife Ashley Corso of Easley, SC; his niece and nephews, Victoria, Vinny, and Diego of Denton, TX; and his great nephews, Levi, Parker and Asher; many friends; and other close family in Baton Rouge, LA. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, David Woods.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 11:00 AM at Coker Funeral Home, Sanger, TX with Mark’s family and friends in attendance.
