He was predeceased by: his former wife Elisabeth Mendl Phillips; his wife Ruth Ann Chatman Phillips; his parents, Wade Phillips and Mattie Fly Phillips; his children, Robert Phillips, John Phillips and Irene Phillips; and his siblings, Sennie Dodd and John Phillips.
He is survived by: his daughters, Judith Crowe (Bob) of Finger, TN, Yvonne Johnson of Jacks Creek, TN, Anita Hawkins (Wes) of Texarkana, AR and Esther Phillips of Spring, TX; his daughter-in-law Debi Phillips of Henderson, TN; and his grandchildren, Angela Griffith, Samantha Stark, Rebecca Gowens, Noah Phillips, Justin Coles, Tiffany Coles, Wade Coles and Larissa Barker. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
