He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Don Barnes and Colene Campbell Barnes; his wife Wanda Thomas Barnes; his daughters, Brandi (Thomas Rauch), Amanda Barnes and Jennifer Barnes; his grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Rauch; his sister Donna Prough; and his nephews, Scott Knight and Jeff Knight.

“Unfortunately many years have past since having the opportunity to enjoy his infectious laugh and sense of humor.. What great memories of his kindness, generosity, and hospitality. He always went out of his way to provide a good time. I relate all of the taste, smells, and sensations of New Orleans to Uncle Gary. Muffelletas, Beignets, crawfish etouffee and of course Bourbon St and Hurricanes. These are just a few of the highlights of my many memories of a wonderful uncle. Jeff Knight”
