She was predeceased by: her parents, Leopoldo Gonzalez and Elvira Gonzalez; her husband Javier Peña; her siblings, Olga G. Decker, Rodolfo Gonzalez and Leopoldo Gonzalez; her grandson Jorge L. Benavides Jr.; and her children, Javier Peña Jr. (Grizelda), Adriana Peña, Roberto Peña, Federico Peña (Edna), Carlos Peña (Linda) and Cristina P. Lara (Izzy).
She is survived by: her brother Armando Gonzalez. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren.
The Webb County Heritage Foundation presented her with the Restoration Award for the adaptive reuse of the building at 1708 Victoria in 1989.
