“I was one of Gary's 45 plebes at USNA in summer 1962. His leadership and attention to detail was an inspiration, encouragement and example to me and my shipmates in the class of 1966. In 1964 I was honored to be a part of the 45-man platoon Gary led. In the annual Brigade Platoon Drill Competition, Gary's platoon, and mine also as one of his mentees, was judged best of all others (#1), the total numbering over 100. Gary is missed by many but will live again. 1 Cor. 15. Arthur Millard”
