He was predeceased by: his parents, Thelma Stearns and Ivan Stearns; his wife Dorothea Beason of Snyder; his siblings, Joyeline Costen and Tommy Stearns; and his aunts and uncles, Mildred Smith, Agnes Cooper, Oran Stearns, Carl, Thomas McGehee and Russell Stearns.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cheri Irwin (Bill) of Hurst, Texas and Laurie Self (David) of Murphy, Texas.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Self Duke, Courtney Irwin Winegar (Reed), Corey and Ryan Self; his great grandchildren, Will Duke, Taylor Smith, Penelope and Phoebe Winegar; his brother Charles Stearns (Lois); his nephews, Mark Stearns (Nancy), Chuck and Ed Stearns; and his niece Christy Stearns Lee.
