He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Frank Smith, Jr. and Anita Ake Smith of Austin Texas. He is survived by: his wife Diane Potier Smith; his sister Nancy Smith Norvell; his children, Jacquelyn Taylor Smith Brown (Taylor) and Bradley Jay Smith (Jay); his son-in-law Jeremy Brown (JT); his grandchildren, Wyatt Brown and Isla Brown; his cousins, Dr. Donny Smith, Jr. (Jody), Jan Smith Raesz (Gene), Barbara Smith Dike (David) and Joel Shelley Smith (Cindy); his siblings-in-law, Debbie Potier Draper, Fritz Draper, Joanne Potier and Mike Potier; and his nieces and nephews, Nancy Nicole Norvell Duncum, Anita Noelle Norvell, Samantha Draper Taylor, Brandon, Justin, Christopher Potier, Max and Scott Draper. He is also survived by family members and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one or two of Barry's favorite charities, Helping Hand Home for Children in Austin, TX, or St. Jude's Children Hospital. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14: Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
