With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Frederick Speed of Sour Lake, Texas, born in Beaumont, Texas, who passed away on April 11, 2022 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Speed and Myrtis Apperson Speed Chandler; and his sisters, Wanda Klussman and Darla McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Speed; his children, Rebecca Speed Gay (Jason) of Sour Lake, Jonathan Speed (Jamie) of College Station, David Speed (Lori) of Lumberton and Kathy Spencer Stegemann of Estero, Florida; his grandchildren, Caleb Gay, Connor Gay, Taylor Speed, Logan Speed, Colton Speed, Tatum Dominguez, Taylor Dominguez, Josh Carreon, Nash Stegemann and Spencer Stegemann; his sister-in-law Anne Babb (Robert) of Vidor; and his cousin Marcia Walker. He is also survived by several nieces and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin-Jefferson Athletic Booster Club, P.O. Box 641, Sour Lake, Texas 77659.
