He was predeceased by: his father Walter Russell Long. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Wood Waller; his daughter Susan Lyndal Long; his family Austin; his brother Joe R. Long; his children, Lyndal Wiatrek (Edwin), Russ Long (Carolyn Rydlund) and Mitch Long (LuAnn); his grandchildren, Lauren Wiatrek (Chris Housley), Jillian Winn (Anthony), Tucker Long (Kelli), Kally McNeil (Parks), Grace Long-Torales (Tony Torales), Kathryn Wiatrek, Kassandra Long and Walter R. Long, IV; and his great grandchildren, Parker Olivia Winn, Nathaniel Elliott Winn and Jet Walker McNeil.
